  • It is underground disc-like or spherical stem.
  • It is covered by scale leaves which are fleshy and store food.

Onion, lily, garlic

Tuber

 

  • It is the swollen tip of the underground lateral stem.
  • It is formed due to storage of food.
  •  Each eye of potato develops into a new plant.
