In unicellular organism, the mode of reproduction is simple whereas it is very complex in case of multicellular organisms. Binary fission, multiple fission, budding and conjugation are some of the reproductive methods in unicellular organisms. In multi-cellular organisms with relatively simple body organisation, simple reproductive methods like fragmentation can still work. But in case of complex multi-cellular organisms, more complex ways of reproduction are needed. In such organisms, reproduction is the function of a simgle cell type. Regeneration, budding, vegetative propagation and spore formation are some of the asexual methods seen in multicellular animals. Sexual reproduction is prominent in multicellular animals.
