Expert Answer:

India signed Panchsheel with China in 1954. Panchsheel consisted of five principles. These were:
  1. Mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
  2. Mutual non-aggression.
  3. Mutual non-interference in each other's internal affairs.
  4. Equality and cooperation for mutual benefits
  5. Peaceful co-existence
Later, these five principles of Panchsheel became the basis of Non Alignment Movement. NAM adheres to these above mentioned principles. The five principles of co-existence were incorporated in the list of basic guide lines for the NAM to deter from involvement of these newly independent countries into wars.
