How are adrenal glands useful to us?

The hormones of adrenal cortex are cortisol which are important for regulating the metabolism of the body, aldosterone for regulating water and electrolyte balance of the body and androgen hormones .
The adrenal medulla produces adrenaline and noradrenaline which are important to cope with physical and emotional stress. In addition, epinephrine has effects on heart rate, blood flow, conversion of glycogen to glucose etc. Noradrenaline is important to increase the blood pressure.
