Expert Answer:
Cu (s) + 2Ag+ ? Cu2+ + 2Ag (s).
K = [Active masses of products] / [Active masses of reactants]
K = [Cu2+ ] [ Ag (s) ] 2 / [Cu ](s) + [ Ag+ ]2
SINCE THE ACTIVE MASSES OF SOLIDS IS TAKEN TO BE UNITY AS A CONVENTION
K = [Cu2+ ] / [ Ag+ ]2
Now, we have G = - nFE0
and G = -2.303 RT log K Thus - nFE0 = -2.303 RT log K
For the reaction the n = 2 ( number of electrons exchanged)
so, 2 X 96500 X 0.46 V = 2.303 x 8.313 x 298 log K
Now find the value of log K, the equilibrium constant
