Give the meaning of appreciation and depreciation of
domestic currency.

Currency appreciation means a situation when the value of domestic currency increases in relation to the value of other currencies. Fewer rupees are required to purchase a dollar such as US dollar exchanges for Rs 50 instead of Rs 55. Hence, the domestic currency indicates appreciation.
Currency depreciation means a situation when the value of domestic currency decreases in relation to the value of other currencies. More rupees are required to purchase a dollar like US dollar exchanges for Rs 55 instead of Rs 50. Hence, the domestic currency indicates depreciation.
