Expert Answer
Pancreas has an exocrine region and an endocrine region. The exocrine region is involved in the production of pancreatic juice, which contains enzymes important for digestion. These enzymes are taken to the small intestine through ducts.
The endocrine region of pancreas shows islets of Langerhans, which shows various types of cells such as alpha, beta, gamma and delta. These are involved in the production of important hormones like glucagon, insulin, somatostatin and pancreatic polypeptide.
Thus pancreas has important roles in digestion and endocrine system of the body.
