Nature of soil depend upon several factors such as nature of parent rocks, temperature, humidity, rainfall etc. India has a vast longitudinal and latitudinal extent and hence every region has different climatic conditions. Further, the nature and chemical composition of rocks differ from region to region. Thus, different regions in India have different kind of soils for agriculture. For example, northern plains have alluvial soil while the Deccan Plateau has black soil.
