Give 2 reasons that prompted armament race before ww2

Two reasons that promted armament race befor the Second World War were:

• Germany felt that the Treaty of Versailles was not fair. According to some clauses of the Treaty, Germany had to demilitarise. But after Hitler assumed power in Germany, he increased the its military might leading to an armament race.
• Other European countries like Britain and France feared the agressive policies of Hitler and hence began to equip themselves with various modern weapons.
