Expert Answer:
1. When the moving parts of a machine rub together, a lot of heat is produced due to friction between them. This wastage of energy reduces the efficiency of the machine.
2. When we rub a matchstick against rough side of a mactbox, then due to friction between the head of the matchstick and the rough side of the matchbox heat is produced. Due to this heat, the matchstick lights up.
3. Due to increased friction caused by rusting, the hinges of doors make rattling noise.
