Expert Answer:

Canada has nearly 10% of the world’s forests. Forests contribute significantly to the Canadian economy in the following ways:

  1. Timber produced by Canada is used in the manufacturing of telegraph poles, building materials etc.
  2. Canada is the largest supplier of wood pulp and paper in the world which is a source of income to the government.
  3. Canada also leads in news print (a low cost paper mainly used for printing newspapers and other publications) production accounting for more than 50% of the world’s exports.
