in a magnetic field the force acting on a moving charged particle is:
F = q(V X B)
here the bolded quantities are vector quantites where:
V = is the velocity vector
B = is the magnetic field vector.
As seen for the formula it always act in a direction perpendicular to both magnetic field and the velocity vector of the particle.
