Discriminant = b2 - 4ac = 4(1+2m)2 - 8m(3+2m) = 4(-2m + 1)
 
The equation will have real and distinct roots when D > 0.
that is, when 4(-2m + 1) > 0 or -2m > -1 or m < 1/2
 
The roots will be equal when D = 0
that is, when 4(-2m + 1) = 0 or m = 1/2
