(4 - k)x2 + 2(k + 2)x + 8k + 1
Comparing with ax2 + bx + c
a = 4 - k, b = 2(k + 2) and c = 8k + 1
The given quadratic is a perfect square if it has two real and equal roots. To have two real and equal roots the discriminant should be zero.
b2 - 4ac = 0
[2(k + 2)]2 - 4 × (4 - k) × (8k + 1) = 0
Simplifying this we get k = 0 or 3.
