Yes, in the cork case, it'll be less than 76 cm, since in the first case we fill the tube completly, hence leave no space and NO AIR TO PUT ANY EXTRA PRESSURE. So it's the perfect vacuum above the 76 cm space in the tube in first case. But in second case, we do leave air inside the tube, it's NOT PERFECT vacuum, so that extra AIR PRESSURE makes the height less than 76 cm.
