Five forces each of magnitude 10N each act on a point. If the forces have equal angles between them, find their resultant.

Polygonal law states that if a number of vectors are represented both in magnitude and direction by the open sides of a polygon taken in the same order then the resultant vector is represented both in magnitude and direction by the closing side of the polygon taken in the opposite order.

Let ‘a’ be the angle between the vectors.

Therefore by polygonal law,

 = 10+10+10+10+10 = 50 N
