let y=sin(θ+π/6) + cos(θ+π/6)

differentiating w.r.t. θ

dy/dθ = cos(θ+π/6) - sin(θ+π/6)

for maxima dy/dθ = 0

i.e. tan(θ+π/6) = 1 => θ+π/6 = π/4 i.e. θ=π/12

so at θ=π/12 value of ymax = sin(π/12+π/6) + cos(π/12+π/6) = 21/2
