The given equations are:

a2x+b2y=c2               ... (1)

b2x+a2y=d2         ... (2)

Multiply (1) by b2 and (2) by a2, we get

a2b2x+b4y = b2c2

a2b2x+a4y = a2d2

Subtracting the above two equations,

(b4 - a4)y = b2c2 - a2d2

y = b2c2 - a2d2 / b4 - a4

Now, put this value of y in any of the two given equations to get the value of y.
