10x2  + 3bx + a2 – 7ax - b2 = 0
10x2 + (3b - 7a)x + a2 - b2 = 0
Comparing with standard form of quadratic equation Ax2 + Bx + C = 0
A = 10, B = 3b - 7a, C = a2 - b2
Using formula 
x = begin mathsize 16px style fraction numerator negative open parentheses 3 straight b minus 7 straight a close parentheses plus-or-minus square root of open parentheses 3 straight b minus 7 straight a close parentheses squared minus 4 cross times 10 cross times open parentheses straight a squared minus straight b squared close parentheses end root over denominator 20 end fraction end style
Hence, x = begin mathsize 16px style fraction numerator straight a minus straight b over denominator 2 end fraction space or space fraction numerator straight a plus straight b over denominator 5 end fraction end style
