Expert Answer
Area of shaded portion = Area of Trapezium ABCD - area of parallelogram CDEF - area of Δ ABG

Area of trapezium ABCD = (1/2) × sum of parallel sides × perpendicular distance between parallel sides

Area of trapezium ABCD = (1/2) × ( 24 + 15 ) × 8 = 156 sq.cm

Area of parallelogram CDEF = parallel side CD × perpendicular distance between parallel sides CD and EF

Area of parallelogram CDEF = 14 × 6 = 84 sq.cm

Area of Δ ABG = (1/2) × 8 × 6 = 24 sq.cm

Area of shaded portion = ( 156 - 84 - 24 ) = 48 sq.cm
