a – acceleration, u – initial velocity, v – final velocity, s – net displacement, t – time interval, Vavg – average velocity.
a = (v – u)/t
(v – u) = at
Multiply both sides by (v + u)
(v – u)(v + u) = at(v + u)
v2 – u2 = at(v + u),
Vavg = (u + v)/2 = s/t
(u + v) = 2Vavg = 2s/t
Using this result,
v2 – u2 = at(2s/t)
v2 – u2 = 2as
