Expert Answer:

= x2 + (x/4) - (1/8)
=x+ (x/4) +(1/64) -(1/64) -( 1/8)    {using (x+a )2 = x2 + 2ax + a2 }
= [ x+ (1/8)]2 - (9/64)
= [ x + (1/8) + (3/ 8 ) ] [ x + (1/8) - (3/ 8 ) ]   {using a2 - b2 = (a+b) (a-b)   }
= (x+(4/8) ) (  x- (2/8) )
 = ( x+ (1/2)) ( x- (1/4)) answer
