Factor Theorem

(x-a) is the factor of f(x)
thus f(a)=0
a2+pa+q=0 (i)
for the same reason
g(a)=0
a2+ma+n=0 (ii)
Subtracting (ii) from (i)
a(p-m)+(q-n)=0
a=(n-q)/(p-m)
hence proved
