Explain why two straight parallel conductors carrying current in same direction attract each other?

Expert Answer:

This is due to the magnetic interaction between the wires carrying current. The magnetic interaction is of attractive nature when current is in same direction.  Since the electrons constituting current move very fast, the magnetic force of attraction dominates the electrostaticc repulsion.
