Syngamy is fusion of one of two male gametes with egg to produce diploid zygote. It is also known as generative fertilisation or true fusion.

Triple fusion is the fusion of second male gamete with two haploid polar nuclei to form triploid primary endosperm nucleus. It is also known as vegetative fertilisation.
