Expert Answer
Both parent rock as well as climate play an important role in the formation of soil. The parent rock determines the colour, texture, the chemical properties, permeability and the mineral content of the soil. At the same time, climatic conditions like temperature and rainfall determine the rate of rock weathering and existence of humus in the soil.
