Photosynthesis is a biochemical process in which green plants prepare food from simple inorganic substances like carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight, with the help of chlorophyll , giving out oxygen as a byproduct.
During photosynthesis, light energy is absorbed by chlorophyll.
This light energy is converted to chemical energy. Splitting of water molecules takes place into hydrogen and oxygen.
Finally, carbon dioxide is reduced to carbohydrates.
