Association areas function to produce a meaningful perceptual experience of the world, enable us to interact effectively, and support abstract thinking and language. It is thought that these areas integrate sensory and motor information and that this integration allows objects to be recognized and located in space.There are different association areas like sensory association area which carries out processing of multisensory information, motor association area where coordination of complex movement is done, visual association area where visual information is processed, auditory association area where auditory information is processed etc.
