The example is the reaction of base NaOH with zinc metal.
If we take aqueous sodium hydroxide in a conical flask and add small pieces of zinc metal i.e. zinc granules to it, and slightly warm the contents if needed, hydrogen gas is libertaed and sodium zincate is formed.
Zn + 2 NaOH Na2ZnO2 + H2
