An antidiuretic hormone, called vasopressin, released from the pituitary gland regulates the amount of urine produced. The Juxta glomerular apparatus also plays an important role in this regard by releasing renin.

If excretion does not take place, the toxic nitrogenous wastes will accumulate in the body, which will prove to be fatal. So excretion is a vital function.
