RBCs when formed have nucleus and all other organelles. However when they mature, they lose the nucleus and other organelles in order to carry out their function. The RBCs get filled up with haemoglobin, so as to help in transport of respiratory gases. This is the main function of RBCs. To fulfil this function, nucleus is lost from RBC.
