Yes, but you must be careful, if R is any resistance in series or parallel, V will be the potential drop ACROSS THAT RESISTANCE AND I WILL BE CURRENT FLOWING THROUGH THAT RESISTAOR ONLY.
If you take R as equiavalent resistance, then V, the total battery voltage, and I the total current through equivalent resistance must be used.
