Armature is any moving part in an electrical circuit in which a voltage is induced by a magnetic field, especially the rotating coils in an electric motor or generator. The principle used in this is electromagnetic induction.
The carbon brushes in a generator are used to connect external circuits in the generator to the rotor through the commutator.
Split rings keep the current flowing in the same direction in an electric motor as alternating current reverses direction its direction.
