 If there is a charge distribution in a region , then if additional electric charge is brought into this region experience electrostatic force .

It is assumed that additional electric charge magnitude is small enough so that it does not alter the given charge distribution in space.

The measure of force experienced by the external electric charge that is brought into the region of given electric charge distribution

is electric field .

In physics , electric field intensity is referred as electric field .

Electric field intensity is the electrostati force experienced by unit positive charge .

If electric field intensity is E , then a charge q experience a force F = q E .
