An electric dipole is a pair of equal and opposite charges separated by a distance.
An example of a dipole can be a water molecule has a non zero dipole moment. The chemical bonds within the molecule cause a displacement of charge.
You must have also studied about induced dipoles in a dielectric that is placed between the plates of a capacitor.
