Dear Student
Microwaves are electromagnitic radiation of frequency of the order of GHz.
In micro wave ovem 2.45Ghz waves are used.
When a dipole placed in electric field it tries to allign to the field.
micro wave are electric field chamging its direction with 2.45Ghz requency.
inthe process of allingment of dipole to the field energy get absorbed. This is microwave oven.
For water molecule the resonance frequency is 2.45 GHz , at this frequency of micro waves it absorbs maximum energy from EM radiation.
