answered-by-expert Expert Answer
Let original edge of cube = a
Surface area = 6a2
Edge of new cube = a + 20% of a = 6/5 a
Surface area of new cube = 6(6/5a)2
Increase in surface area = New - original / original * 100%
                                   = 6a2[(6/5)2 - 1] / 6a2 * 100%
                                   = 11/25 * 100%
                                   = 44%
