draw the graphs of reciprocal function ?give its domain and range

dear student,
the domain is all real num.s except 0 as the function
f(x)=1/x is not defined at x=0
range is all real num.s except 0 as for any x which is not equal to zero, 1/x is a real num other than 0.
the graph of this function lies only in the 1st and 3rd quadrants.
take a few values like x=1,2,3..
f(x) will be 1,1/2,1/3...
next take values of x as
x=-1,-2,-3...
f(x)=-1,-1/2,-1/3..
the graph will neither meet the y axis nor the x axis as
y i.e. 1/x never takes the value 0
and
x can not take the value 0 as mentioned in the domain portion.
