x+3y=6 (1)
2x-3y=12 (2)
For the first equation, draw a straight line passing through (6,0) and (0,2). This line has a negative slope.
For the second equation, draw a straight line passing through (6,0) and (0,-4). This line has a positive slope.
Furthermore, the 2 lines intersect at (6,0) and the area bound by the 2 lines and y axis is a triangle with vertices, A(0,-4) B(0,2) and C(6,0).
Area of the triangle = 1/2 * b*h
Here base = AB = 6 units
height = OC =6 unis
Hence, area of triangle = 1/2*6*6 = 18 sq units.
