Draw a line segment PQ of length 9.5 cm. Draw its perpendicular bisector. Take any point R on it. Measure the length RP and RQ. Are they equal?

1. Draw a line segment PQ = 9.5 cm.

2. Taking P as a centre and radius more than half of length PQ, draw two arcs in upper and lower portion of PQ.

3. Taking Q as a centre and same radius, draw two arcs which cut the previous arcs at A and B.

4. Join AB.

5. Take any point R on AB and join RP and RQ.

5. Measure the length RP and RQ.

6. We find that they are equal.
