Does the temperature of air effect alveolar absorption?

Expert Answer:

The upper air- ways, extending from the nares and lips to the larynx, are the primary sites at which the temperature and humidity of inspired air are equilibrated to body conditions. Conditioning of the inspired air to nearly alveolar conditions occur in order to maintain the internal milieu of the lung. Hence the air reaching the alveoli has uniform temperature.
