Do we store the electric current that comes down through thundering or lightening . If yes then where do we use it?

During the lightning if we have lightning rod attatched to the building then the charge goes through the wire ground, instead of into the building, and through your electronic equipment. But the lightning blast is not as strong an usual, because the lightning rod is very sharp, and it tends to soak up much of the charge before the cloud/ground situation is fully charged.
