do plants really prepare food on their own?

Heterotrophs cannot prepare food on their own using carbon dioxide, light and water like plants do. They are directly or indirectly dependent on the organic food prepared by plants. Since plants can prepare food through photosynthesis using these raw materials, they are called autotrophs.
