Do Newton's laws of motion and gravitation also apply on non-matters like sound and light ?

No, they are not applicable here, since sound and light are kind of waves. So energy is transferred from one place to another as the wave propogates. Light is considered both as wave - electromagnetic and particle - photon. The theory applicable here is special relativity. A photon has a ZERO REST MASS, i.e. you can never find it at rest.
