distinguish between real and virtual images

A real image is formed when light rays actually meet at a point. This image can be obtained on a screen. For example the image of the sun formed by a convex lens actually feels hot, you can see it and it can burn a piece of paper.
A virtual image is formed when light rays appear to meet at a point. This image cannot be obtained on a screen. Your image in a mirror is a virtual image.
