distinguish between density and specific gravity

Density of a substance is the mass per unit volume of that substance.
It is given as ? = M/V
Its unit is kg/m3.
Specific gravity of a substance is the ratio of density of that substance to the density of some reference substance, which is ideally water.
It is unitless and dimensionless.
