Expert Answer:

gas usually refers to the vapor phase of a pure species. When two or more pure species are in the vapor phase and mixed together, the mixture is often referred to as a vapor .However, there are some exceptions  to this convention so for example, natural gas is usually a combination of several gas species but is commonly referred to as a gas.
