Discuss how the end of colonialism led way to democracy?

Asia and African colonies were under the control of European nations for a long time. The Asians and Africans wanted independence and carried out nationalist struggles to achieve independence. At the end of the Second World War in 1945, many of these countries achieved indepedence and became democratic immediately.
For instance, India attained indepedence in the year 1947 and trasformed itself from a subject country to a democratic one.

Also, Ghana, an African nation, became independent from the British rule under the leadership of Kwame Nkrumah in 1957. It was among the first African nations to attain indepedence.
Thus, the victories for these countries inspired other African countries to struggle for freedom.
However, due to various reasons some out of the many countries that attained indepedence and became demoractic could not remain so for long.
