Resistors are said to be in parallel combination if they are connected between two points, while they are said to be connected in series combination if second end of one resistor is connected with the first end of second resistor.

The potential difference is same across the all resistors in parallel combination, while the potential difference is different across resistors in series combination.

The same current flows through the resistors in series combination while different current flows through the resistors in parallel combination.
