Approximately ½ the carbohydrate digestion is performed by amylase from the pancreas, 40% from the saliva, 10% from intestinal amylase.
Starch is converted into maltose by pancreatic and salivary amylase. This maltose is converted into glucose by maltase enzyme produced by intestinal cells. So complete digestion is done in intestine.
